Quick Draw Comes to PVS

What is green, fast, easy rolling and still safe? Its none other than the new "Quick Draw Tarpaulin Systems" for the PVS semi-trailers. It seems like just yesterday, one could look out the window and watch our drivers and North Bay crews crawling up and down and up and down just to tarp, block, and nail loads for the next day deliveries. Now thanks to efforts of Don Hope and Fritz Kohler (the keen eye boys) our semi drivers and loading crews are now able to reduce labour and packaging costs and increase safety at the same time.

This project started with Don & Fritz noticing a truck from North Dakota pulling into PVS one day to deliver a load of steel. The boys were fascinated with this particular tarping system, and like all curious boys, went to check it out. They started to question the driver who graciously replied to their inquisitiveness with a short five minute demo. The rest is history. Don started to gather his data and lobby to get these tarp systems for the PVS semi trailers.

These tarpaulin systems are safe, fast, lightweight, easy rolling, self tensioning and self sealing. They can be rolled in sections for easy access in unloading whatever the customer's needs might be. The tarp itself is made of 22oz PVC materials that offer ultra violet light, and are rot and mildew resistant. They have a urethane finish for easy cleaning and a glossy professional look.

"I've been pulling this trailer for 6 years now and it still looks like it just came out of your shop. Still tight! Loaded or empty. For what this trailer has gone through, rain, snow, sleet, ice, wind (even on the edge of a tornado in Cincinnati, Ohio) it still looks great. All I have done in this time was minor, tarp adjustment, lubricate the wheels and wash it.

The truck & trailer are salt covered. But, it's that time of the year... The cargo is spotless!"

Dear Walt DeMonte: Just wanted to let you know how happy I am to own two of your Quick Draw Tarpaulin Systems. This past winter (2002) Buffalo got 7 feet of snow within a short amount of time and my two Quick Draw Systems had 4 feet of snow piled on each one. They sat there for some time until we got a path to them. We shoveled the trailer tops off and could not believe that we had no damage what so ever. Even more amazing, you have proved to me how weather tight your Quick Draw really is. I just had to let you know how pleased I am to own these systems and look forward to doing more business with you and your company in the near future.

"The driver received minor injuries and the tractor had over $45,000 in damages, as for our Quick Draw it was still operational and they continued using it for a week before bringing it in for repairs. The repairs were minor, the tarps had to be replaced because the unit slid on its side, new rear bow and a new rear brace. The rest of the Quick Draw, the headboard, track etc. were not damaged at all. The unit was dropped off for repairs late Friday evening and they had all repairs completed by Monday morning. Kevin the owner said that if it were not for the tarps ripping when the unit slid he would not have even brought it in for repairs The Quick Draw held up great."

Dear Yvonne,

Many many thanks for the quick turnaround on the tarp section replacement and sundry repairs required to my '01 International with 24' Quick Draw System. In your shop on Wednesday night, out by Thursday afternoon! Please pass my appreciation to Jack and the rest of the crew for their simply outstanding service.

After three years, the original panel sections had faded just a wee bit as compared to the new section; however a thorough cleaning and a quick application of your "tarp wax" brought the remaining sections back to life and they now match the new replacement panel.

I am anticipating many more years of useful life from my Quick Draw system, and will gladly consider Demonte should I require any additional equipment.
